A tiny headcanon

Does anybody remember that weird kid from Godzilla vs. Hedorah, who seemed to know where Godzilla was and if/when he'd show up? I headcanon that kid being Miki Saegusa's dad... or maybe older brother, given the number of years between the two films.

I recently watched 1971’s Godzilla vs. Hedorah (ゴジラ対ヘドラ), and this is what I wrote about it initially:

This film is really something. I’ve not seen any other kaiju movies like it.

First of all, it’s actually violent and reasonably scary, which was pretty exciting. It was also pretty surrealistic with a lot of bizarre sequences, including musical numbers and animated sequences.

There’s a lot here for me, though it retains that characteristically lumbering kaiju movie pacing that ultimately isn’t my favorite.

Honestly, though, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about this movie. It really is so unique. I think I’d really like to watch it again.

Oh I REALLY love the use of the Fish Head parade here, not just a great callback to "Godzilla VS. Hedorah" but also a clever bit of extra color that serves to play into the surreal and unsettling mood of the atmosphere; poor Ken being caught in the middle is a great touch too. The bloody red splotches acting as emphasis points across the composition are a great choice as well, and I LOVE the way you render Hedorah as a barely-coherent pile of melting textures, especially for how you carry that same vibe into the rest of the pic.

I actually love Hedorah so much guys
